Indulge in the comforting flavors of Fall with our delightful spiced apple crisp recipe! This classic mouthwatering dessert combines juicy apples, tossed in a blend of warm spices with a crispy oat, brown sugar and pecan topping layered on the bottom and on the top of the crisp for double the goodness. Baked to perfection in our ProCast 7″ x 11″ Baking Pan, the apples become tender and caramelized while the topping turns golden and crunchy. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This recipe can easily be made gluten-free with a few substitutions!
Crisp Topping:
- 1 1/4 cups rolled oats (not Quick oats. Substitute for GF oats if desired)
- 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (can substitute a gluten-free flour such as Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1)
- 6 Tbsp chopped pecans
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp table salt
- 1 stick unsalted butter, cut into cubes and softened
Apple Filling:
- 5 to 6 large, tart apples (such as Granny Smith variety)
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare ProCast 7” x 11” Baking Pan with baking spray and use a pastry brush to spread evenly.
For Topping:
Combine rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, pecans, cinnamon, and table salt in a medium bowl. Add cubes of butter and mix with a pastry blender until crumbly. Press about one-third of the prepared topping in bottom of prepared pan.
Apple Filling:
Peel and slice apples 1/4” thick. Toss the sliced apples with 1 tsp lemon juice. Combine sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Spread apples over crust and sprinkle with sugar mixture.
Sprinkle remaining topping mixture evenly over apples. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
