Simple and tasty chocolate waffles made in our Sweetheart Waffler! Make for an excellent brunch, topped with fresh berries and maple syrup or try for a decadent dessert idea, topped with fruit, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. The options are endless!
Ingredients
- 11/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup full-fat yogurt, unflavored
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 5 Tbsp butter, melted
Directions
Prepare Sweetheart Waffler with oil or nonstick cooking spray. In large mixing bowl whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. In a separate bowl, beat eggs well. Beat in buttermilk, yogurt, and vanilla. Stir wet mixture into dry and mix until smooth. Whisk in melted butter and set batter aside for 5 minutes.
Preheat both sides of waffler for 1 minute on burner. Pour about 1 cup of batter onto iron and bake until browned, about a minute and a half. Flip iron and cook other side until done. Remove waffle gently with non-metal spatula. Repeat until all waffles are made. Serve with maple syrup, whipped cream, and berries. Makes about 5 waffles

Delicious! I used my new Sweetheart Waffler and fired up these chocolate waffles and they did not disappoint. I only had non fat greek yogurt instead of the full fat and they still turned out great. This is a nice twist to traditional waffles and the malted milk powder added a nice flavor. They are fluffy and light. Will make again.
