Gluten Free Apple Slice Cakelets

The perfect mini dessert recipe to celebrate apple season! These Gluten Free Apple Cakelets are full of wonderful spice and flavor. Add a drizzle of caramel topped with candied nuts for a delicious treat.
Ingredients
- 11/2 cup gluten free flour*
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1/2 cup water
- dash ground nutmeg
- dash salt
Directions
*Gluten free flours we recommend: Cup4Cup Gluten Free AP, King Arthur Gluten Free AP, Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free 1:1 Baking Flour
Preheat oven to 375 F. Prepare pan with baking spray. Stir together flour, powder, soda, spices and salt. Set aside. In medium bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar. Add applesauce, egg, and water and combine. Slowly add flour mixture until combined. Pour evenly into pan, no more than 3/4 full. Bake 12-15 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center of cakes comes out clean. Let cakes cool for 10 minutes and unmold. Repeat with remaining batter. Top with a caramel sauce or a simple glaze.
