Make a tasty Grilled Cuban Sandwich at home in minutes using our Stovetop Sandwich & Grill Press! Pulled pork layered with ham, Swiss Cheese, pickles and Dijon mustard make this Cubano combo the ultimate sandwich, grilled to perfection. Recipe developed by Jason DeRusha, Minnesota morning news anchor on WCCO and as the station’s food reporter producing “DeRusha Eats.”
Ingredients
- 4 slices of Italian Bread or 2 Cuban Bread Rolls, sliced
- Butter
- 4 slices Swiss Cheese
- Sliced Ham
- Pulled Pork
- Dill Pickle Sandwich Slices
- Dijon Mustard
Directions
If you plan to use a homemade recipe for the pulled pork or pork carnitas, prepare that first before assembling the sandwiches. Store bought works as well.
Prep two slices of Italian bread with butter on one side of each slice. Flip bread so butter is on the outside and add a slice of Swiss Cheese to each slice of bread. Build sandwich on one side of bread by layering ham, pulled pork and pickle slices. Spread Dijon mustard on other slice of bread on top of cheese and place on top of stacked sandwich. Set aside.
Unhinge sandwich press and preheat both sides on stovetop over medium-low heat for 90 seconds. Add Cuban sandwich to one side of press, hinge the other side and close press. Cook for 2-3 minutes and flip press. Cook on the other side for about 2-3 minutes or until sandwich is heated and golden brown with grill marks. Carefully remove with a silicone spatula and enjoy. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Makes 2 sandwiches.
